Keeping up with the Joneses

Apparently blogspot is where it's at these days.. so I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon. I don't actually have anything interesting to say, and I tend to write in free form (i.e. not trying hard) so grammar freaks beware. It's probably going to take me a while to get everything figured out here so bear with me.

Alright, so I've been meaning to share what happened to Jason and I on our trip back from Minnesota. We needed to make a stop in Iowa so I could feed Aedan. We saw an old abandoned gas station that looked like a nice place for me to nurse in private so we pulled in. After I fed him I got out to stretch and take some photos because I find abandoned places interesting.

With Aedan over Jason's shoulder we decided to explore around back of the building. As we were walking, we noticed a few things that seemed out of place- objects that looked newer than their surroundings. I thought nothing of it, just figured that local kids probably hung out in the area. When we reached around back it was overgrown with weeds and mostly blocked off. I wondered if there was some way to check out the inside. Jason and I stopped to observe the area. and that's when we heard it.

So faint we had to strain to hear it, what sounded like high pitched creepy children's music was coming from inside. Jason and I looked at each other, and started running back towards the car. I remember worrying we were going to be shot. It felt like a nightmare where no matter how hard you try to run you can't move fast enough. When we got in the car I was yelling at Jason to hurry up and get us the heck out of there. All we could say was "That was SO creepy!" "I wonder if they saw us! I wonder who was in there!" and "Note to self: NO MORE 'ABANDONED' BUILDINGS!"

Needless to say, we all made it out alive. I know I've probably seen one too many horror movies, but I still can't help but wonder sometimes if someone out there is plotting their revenge for our trespass.

That sounds like quite the creepy experience! At least you weren't there at night...alone...
